A certified translation is a translation accompanied by a statement confirming that it has been translated accurately and professionally. Certified translations are often required by courts, solicitors, employers, universities, public authorities, embassies and other official organisations.
A sworn translation is a translation completed or certified by a translator with the required authority or status in the relevant country. For example, Romanian sworn translations may be required for documents used before Romanian authorities, while Spanish sworn translations may be required for documents submitted in Spain.
You need an Apostille if a UK document is going to be used abroad. The Apostille confirms the authenticity of the signature, seal or stamp on the document. If you are not sure, send us the document and tell us where it will be used.
Some documents need to be notarised before they can be Apostilled. This depends on the type of document and where it will be used. We can help you understand the usual order of steps and, where needed, assist with notarisation arrangements.
This depends on the requirements of the receiving country or authority. In many cases, the document may need to be notarised and Apostilled first, and then translated so that the translation includes the Apostille certificate, stamps, seals and notarial wording.
